Prime Minister Fico was exiting the House of Culture and greeting a small crowd in Banikov Square when the gunman launched the brazen attack. The severity of the situation necessitated urgent medical attention, and Mr. Fico was swiftly transported to a nearby hospital before being airlifted to another medical facility for emergency surgery.
Thankfully, hours after the harrowing assault, Deputy Prime Minister Tomas Taraba provided reassurance, stating that Mr. Fico's condition had stabilized, and he was expected to pull through, dispelling the immediate threat to his life.
The quick response of security officers on the scene led to the immediate apprehension of the assailant, preventing any further harm and ensuring that justice can be served.
