Gunman Shoots Slovak Prime Minister 

On Wednesday, May 15, a shocking incident unfolded in Handlova, Slovakia, as Prime Minister Robert Fico was the target of an attempted assassination. The assailant, identified as a 71-year-old poet, fired multiple shots at close range, causing grave concern for the leader's life.

Prime Minister Fico was exiting the House of Culture and greeting a small crowd in Banikov Square when the gunman launched the brazen attack. The severity of the situation necessitated urgent medical attention, and Mr. Fico was swiftly transported to a nearby hospital before being airlifted to another medical facility for emergency surgery.

Thankfully, hours after the harrowing assault, Deputy Prime Minister Tomas Taraba provided reassurance, stating that Mr. Fico's condition had stabilized, and he was expected to pull through, dispelling the immediate threat to his life.
