Highlights and surprises of the EMMY nominations
Emmy nominations followed a predictable pattern, with few surprises.
The nominations for the Primetime Emmy Awards tend to follow a familiar pattern each year. The recently announced list, revealed on Wednesday, was no exception. The selections in the main drama and comedy series categories were largely unsurprising, with only a minor deviation.
While the nominations largely aligned with expectations, there were still some notable snubs and surprises that caught the attention of industry insiders and fans alike.
One of the most glaring omissions was the absence of 'John Mulaney Presents Everybody’s in L.A.' in the talk-series category. The anticipated series nominations were dominated by the familiar names of "The Daily Show," "Late Night With Seth Meyers," "The Late Show With Stephen Colbert," and "Jimmy Kimmel Live!" Despite the predictability of the category, there was a sense of disappointment that John Mulaney's innovative portrayal of Los Angeles failed to secure a spot among the nominees, especially when it offered a fresh take on the late-night format.
However, there was a glimmer of recognition for the show as it received a nomination for picture editing, mitigating the sense of snub to some extent.
The Emmy nominations always generate a mix of expectation and surprise within the entertainment industry. While the overall trajectory of the selections often adheres to the anticipated outcomes, there are invariably a few twists and turns that keep viewers and industry professionals engaged.
