The infamous scam artist, known for the disastrous Fyre Festival in 2017, now claims to be planning a sequel despite owing millions to his victims and having a criminal record for fraud. Victoria Medvedenko and Cooper Sinkiawic, a couple who spent around $550 each on tickets, were among the initial buyers. Expressing cautious optimism, they viewed the event as a potential vacation, but acknowledged the controversy surrounding the festival, unsure if prominent artists would participate. Reflecting on the original festival's failure, attendees were met with disappointing conditions such as incomplete tents and subpar meals. Consequently, the event attracted widespread attention and inspired documentary films. McFarland, who recently completed a prison sentence for defrauding investors, announced the sequel on social media, claiming it had been conceived during his time in solitary confinement. The Fyre Festival II website states that the event will take place in the Caribbean in December 2024, but specific details, including the location and lineup, have not been disclosed. Notably, the Bahamian government officially disassociated itself from McFarland and the event, labeling him a fugitive due to pending complaints against him. Ticket prices for Fyre Festival II, according to the website, will increase as more are made available, with the most expensive listed at nearly $8,000.
