A hit-and-run in Sherman Oaks left a 63-year-old woman severely injured; police seek the driver of the black Hyundai that fled the scene.

The Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) is actively searching for the individual responsible for a hit-and-run incident involving a sedan that left a 63-year-old woman with severe injuries. The incident occurred on September 6th in the Sherman Oaks neighborhood of Los Angeles.

Details of the Incident

According to an LAPD report, the victim was lawfully crossing the marked crosswalk when she was struck by a black sedan that was making a turn onto Costello Avenue. Despite the presence of a marked crosswalk, the driver of the black sedan failed to stop, identify themselves, or provide aid to the injured woman before fleeing the scene in a southbound direction on Costello Avenue and westbound on Davana Terrance.

As part of the investigation, the LAPD has released video footage that appears to show the woman entering the crosswalk around 6 p.m. local time. In the video, the woman is seen attentively looking in both directions before proceeding to cross the street. Moments later, the black sedan enters the frame and collides with the woman, causing one of her shoes to be propelled into the air upon impact. The video captures the moment the vehicle strikes the woman and subsequently departs the scene, leaving the injured woman alone on the street.

Victim's Condition

Following the collision, paramedics from the Los Angeles Fire Department promptly responded to the scene and transported the severely injured 63-year-old woman to a local hospital for emergency medical treatment. The specific details of her injuries and current condition have not been disclosed.

Vehicle Description and Appeal for Information

The LAPD has described the vehicle involved in the incident as a black sedan with four doors and tinted windows. The authorities are urging anyone with information about the incident, the vehicle, or the driver to come forward and assist with the investigation.

The LAPD has requested that anyone with relevant information contact their department to aid in the identification of the perpetrator and to ensure that justice is served for the injured woman.
