Houstonians Confront Devastation as Storm Whips Through City, Leaving Destruction in Its Wake
Houstonians were surprised by a fierce storm, causing widespread damage with winds up to 100 mph, uprooting trees and billboards.

On the fateful Thursday night, Houston was taken by complete surprise as a violent storm wreaked havoc across the city, catching many of its residents off guard. Even the Astros, undeterred by the relentless rain and howling winds, continued playing baseball within the confines of their closed-dome stadium.
As the sun rose on Friday, the true extent of the catastrophe became alarmingly evident. The densely populated inner loop neighborhoods, which sprawl from the city's towering skyscrapers, bore the brunt of the destruction. Winds, reaching speeds of up to 100 miles per hour, had littered the city with debris, reminiscent of the aftermath of some of the city's recent hurricanes.
The aftermath revealed a cityscape in disarray, with decades-old oak and pecan trees torn asunder or uprooted, obstructing roads and flattening fences in their wake. Stop signs stood at alarming angles and highway billboards, including the iconic Car Wreck Cowboy, which typically loomed over Interstate 45, lay crumpled in empty lots.
