Human Remains of Man Missing for Over a Decade Found in Truck Submerged in Florida Lake

In a tragic turn of events, human remains were discovered inside a truck submerged in Weiss Lake in east Alabama.

Identification of the Deceased

The Cherokee County Coroner, Paul McDonald, confirmed that the recovered remains belonged to Oscar Lewis King, a 74-year-old man who had been missing for over a decade.

Details of the Incident

It was determined that King accidentally drove into the water off the boat ramp located at Chesnut Bay Resort near Leesburg. Foul play is not suspected in King’s death, according to Sheriff Jeff Shaver.

Resolution of the Case

The discovery brought closure to the long-standing mystery surrounding King's disappearance. "We are thankful that the case is now resolved, and the family can gain closure in knowing what happened," Sheriff Shaver expressed.

Discovery of the Remains

The remains were found inside a Dodge Dakota truck, which was registered to King. The vehicle was located in Weiss Lake after a fisherman reported what appeared to be a submerged vehicle to law enforcement officers.

Alabama Department of Forensic Sciences, in coordination with the Cherokee County Coroner, positively identified the recovered remains as those of Oscar Lewis King, bringing an end to the over 10-year-long disappearance case.
