Islamic State Claims Responsibility for Concert Hall Attack Near Moscow, Arrests Made
Islamic State released a photo of alleged attackers in the Moscow concert hall shooting, claiming responsibility amid Russia's pursuit of a Ukrainian link.
Following the shooting rampage that claimed the lives of at least 143 people in a concert hall near Moscow on Friday, the Islamic State released a photo on Saturday. The photo, shared by the militant group's Amaq news agency on Telegram, purported to show the four attackers responsible for the heinous act.
War Context and Responsibility Claim
Amaq, the Islamic State's news agency, stated that "The attack comes within the context of a raging war between the Islamic State and countries fighting Islam," citing security sources. The militant group has claimed responsibility for the attack, but ongoing investigations have suggested a potential Ukrainian link despite emphatic denials from Ukrainian officials in Kyiv.
Arrests Made
Russian authorities announced on Saturday that 11 people, including four suspected gunmen, had been arrested in connection with the attack.
