Israeli Military Rescues Hostage Qaid Farhan al-Qadi, Celebrates Victory Amid Community Toll
The Israeli military rescued hostage Qaid Farhan al-Qadi, a member of the Bedouin Arab minority, amidst calls for a cease-fire and release of other hostages.

The Israeli military celebrated a significant milestone on the 10th of October with the successful rescue of Qaid Farhan al-Qadi, who was taken hostage during the Hamas attacks. He was hospitalized in stable condition. Mr. al-Qadi, a member of Israel's Bedouin Arab community, originally hails from Rahat, a city in southern Israel. At the time of his abduction, he was employed as a security guard at a small Israeli kibbutz, Magen, near the Gaza border, as per a post on X from President Isaac Herzog of Israel.
Family Celebration and Call for Cease-Fire
Upon hearing the news of his return, Mr. al-Qadi's brother, Khatem al-Qadi, expressed immense joy and shared that the family had plans for a grand celebration to mark the momentous occasion. He emphasized the importance of a cease-fire deal and extended his wishes for the safe return of other hostages still held captive. "They are still waiting to see their loved ones back today," he stated, highlighting the ongoing ordeal faced by other families. "We are wishing for all of the hostages to be released and for there to be a deal now," he fervently asserted.
Toll on the Bedouin Community
Mr. al-Qadi's rescue acts as a poignant reminder of the profound impact the attacks had on Israel's marginalized Bedouin community. The community endured the loss of at least 17 Bedouins in the brutal attacks on October 7. Additionally, many individuals who were employed on Jewish farms in southern Israel faced significant hardships as their livelihoods were severely affected when the farms were ransacked during the turmoil.
