Jeff Bezos Unloads 12 Million Amazon Shares Worth Over $2 Billion and More to Come

Jeff Bezos Sells Nearly $2 Billion Worth of Amazon Stock
Founder and former CEO of Amazon, Jeff Bezos, has made a significant move within the company by selling nearly 12 million shares of Amazon stock, amounting to over $2 billion. The sale was disclosed in a recent filing with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission.
The transaction, conducted on February 7 and 8, involved the sale of 11,997,698 shares of common stock. The total value of the shares exceeded $2.04 billion based on the listed price totals and was divided into five blocks ranging from 1 million to over 3.2 million shares.
Further Sales and Restructuring
In addition to this substantial sale, Bezos also indicated in a separate SEC filing his intention to sell 50 million Amazon shares around February 7, with an estimated market value of $8.4 billion. This move further underscores Bezos' ongoing restructuring of his financial interests.
Diversification of Interests
Having stepped down as Amazon's CEO in 2021, Bezos has since dedicated more time to other ventures, including his space venture, Blue Origin, and various philanthropic projects. Although his address on the stock filings is still listed as Seattle, reports indicate that he has possibly relocated to Miami, signaling a shift in his personal and professional life. These actions reflect Bezos' evolving role within Amazon and his strategic reallocation of resources towards new ventures and initiatives.
