Justice Department Sues Live Nation Entertainment Over Monopoly Claims
The Justice Department and 29 states sue Live Nation Entertainment, accusing it of illegally maintaining a monopoly in the live entertainment industry.

On Thursday, the Justice Department announced that it is taking legal action against Live Nation Entertainment, the owner of Ticketmaster, due to allegations of maintaining an illegal monopoly in the live entertainment sector.
The lawsuit, supported by 29 states and the District of Columbia, accuses Live Nation of monopolizing the industry through exclusive ticketing contracts with venues, pressuring artists to use its services, and intimidating competitors with financial consequences.
Impact on Consumers and Industry
The government contends that these practices have led to increased ticket prices for consumers and have hindered innovation and competition within the live entertainment industry.
Attorney General Merrick Garland stated, "It is time to break up Live Nation-Ticketmaster," as the lawsuit is filed in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York.
