Kremlin Affirms Openness to Trump-Putin Meeting Post-Inauguration for Dialogue on Ukraine Conflict
Russia is open to a meeting between Putin and Trump, but concrete steps will only be taken after Trump assumes office.

The Kremlin confirmed on Friday that Russia is open to a meeting between President Vladimir V. Putin and President-elect Donald J. Trump. However, any steps to facilitate such talks can only occur once Mr. Trump is officially sworn into office on January 20.
Kremlin Responds to Trump on Meeting with Putin
Kremlin’s spokesman, Dmitri S. Peskov, responded to Mr. Trump's earlier comments about Putin wanting to meet to discuss the war in Ukraine. Peskov reiterated Russia's longstanding position, emphasizing the importance of mutual desire and political willingness to engage in a dialogue. He welcomed Trump's expressed readiness to resolve issues through dialogue and noted a "mutual readiness for a meeting." However, Peskov indicated that concrete actions would commence after Trump assumes the presidency.
Awaiting Trump's Inauguration
The Kremlin's position highlights its openness to dialogue and cooperation, particularly concerning the war in Ukraine. Nevertheless, the timeline for advancing discussions or negotiations is contingent upon Trump's inauguration, signaling a cautious approach as both parties await the transition of power.
