Late-Spring Cold Front Hits Utah, Bringing Valley Rain and Mountain Snow

Late-spring cold front hits Utah, bringing valley rain and snow. Gusty winds and cold temperatures expected through Wednesday. Road snow warnings in northern and higher routes.

A late-spring cold front is currently affecting Utah, causing valley rain and snow in some areas. The Utah Dept. of Transportation has issued warnings about the impact of this weather event on road conditions.

The higher canyons and Wasatch Back routes, such as Parleys Summit and Park City, are expected to experience road snow on Sunday night into Monday morning. Meanwhile, the Upper Cottonwoods and other higher mountain routes could see several inches of road snow overnight.

Gusty southerly winds are forecasted to diminish behind the cold front. Valley rain and mountain snow are expected to accompany this front, mainly in northern Utah. The National Weather Service has alerted that northern Utah will remain active and colder than normal until Wednesday morning.

Valley routes, including the Wasatch Front, are likely to see rain overnight and through Monday.

Cold Front Movements

While the cold front is tracking south and east, it is expected to reach central and southern Utah on Sunday afternoon. Although not as much moisture and cold air will reach these areas, some road snow concerns are expected on higher routes such as upper SR 153 and Brian Head/upper SR-14.
