The Lane 1 Fire, as of the latest assessment, has engulfed an estimated 1,932 acres of land and has inflicted significant damage to the mountainous terrain south of Disston, a rural community located approximately 40 miles to the southeast of Eugene. At present, the fire remains uncontained, exacerbating the risk to the affected areas.
Impact and Closures
In response to the escalating threat, certain areas east of Disston, specifically starting at Brice Creek Road milepost 0.7 and extending south along Brice Creek Road, are maintaining a Level 1 evacuation status. This designation serves as a caution to local residents, urging them to stay informed about the potential dangers and to stay attuned to updates from local media and authorities.
Furthermore, a number of County roads have been closed to all traffic, with access restricted to owners of private lands that are directly serviced by these roads. The affected roadways include Brice Creek Road east of the Umpqua National Forest Boundary, Champion Creek Road, and Sharps Creek Road beyond the waste transfer site.
