On Tuesday afternoon, a fatal plane crash occurred near Yukon's Sundance Airport, resulting in the loss of four lives. The single-engine airplane reportedly went down in a wooded area, east of the runway, causing a significant fire that prompted immediate response from Oklahoma City firefighters.
The Oklahoma City firefighters were alerted to the incident at 1:27 p.m. Upon arrival, they discovered a plume of smoke and an active fire in the vicinity of the crash site. Public Information Officer Scott Douglas stated, "It appeared that the plane had crashed into the trees, causing a substantial fire. Firefighters swiftly took action to extinguish the flames. Sadly, all four individuals on board did not survive."
Mapping the Crash Site
The aftermath of the crash left no structures affected, but the firefighters remained at the scene to monitor any potential hot spots. The Federal Aviation Administration representatives, along with the Oklahoma City Police Department officials, were present to assist in the response to the tragic incident. The National Transportation Safety Board is anticipated to conduct a thorough investigation into the circumstances surrounding the crash.
