Madonna's Attorneys File Motion to Dismiss Lawsuit Over Late Concert Start

Madonna's lawyers filed a motion to dismiss a lawsuit over her late concert start, arguing no clear injuries were demonstrated.

Madonna's legal team has taken action in response to a lawsuit filed against the iconic pop star for commencing a concert two hours behind schedule. The motion to dismiss the lawsuit was based on the argument that the plaintiffs failed to provide evidence of any tangible harm resulting from the delayed start, as per court documents.

The lawsuit was brought forth by Michael Fellows and Jonathan Hadden following a global Celebration Tour show in Brooklyn in December. The plaintiffs claimed they were deceived by the advertised 8:30 p.m. start time and contended that had they known about the delayed start and the subsequent late end time, they would not have purchased the tickets. They accused Barclays Center and Live Nation of engaging in false advertising, negligent misrepresentation and unfair trade practices.

Madonna's Defense

Madonna's legal representatives contended that it is a common occurrence for concerts to commence late and highlighted the pop star's well-known reputation for tardy starts. They cited Mr. Hadden's social media posts expressing his admiration for Madonna's shows and his attendance at her tours since 1985, arguing that the delayed start could not have been a surprise to him. Additionally, they argued that there was no evidence to support the claim that the delayed start had caused harm to any concertgoers.

Statement from Madonna's Lawyers

"Fans got just what they paid for: a full-length, high-quality show by the Queen of Pop," Madonna's lawyers expressed.

This lawsuit was not the first instance of legal action being taken against Madonna for her late start times. In 2019, a fan in Florida sued over a delayed start in Miami Beach, illustrating a recurring issue surrounding the timing of Madonna's performances.

During a concert in Las Vegas in 2019, Madonna addressed the issue, stating, "a queen is never late," in defiance of the criticism surrounding her punctuality.
