A man has been taken into custody after a car accident on Chuckanut Drive in Whatcom County at approximately 7:44 p.m. Saturday resulted in injuries to four individuals. The Washington State Patrol has attributed the crash to reckless driving, leading to the arrest of Nathan Singh, aged 20, on charges of vehicular assault.
No drugs or alcohol were found to be a factor in the collision. Witness accounts revealed that Singh exhibited a complete lack of concern for other road users, as reported by Washington State Patrol Trooper Kelsey Harding.
Details of the Incident
Singh was operating a 2024 BMW M4, traveling southbound on Chuckanut Drive, while the other party involved, a 2020 Hyundai Tucson, was moving in the opposite direction. The BMW reportedly lost control, veered into oncoming traffic, and collided with the Hyundai. Both vehicles eventually came to rest in the northbound lane, necessitating road closures for several hours, according to a statement from the Washington State Patrol.
Despite the lack of injures to Singh and his passenger, the four occupants of the Hyundai, including two young children, sustained injuries and were promptly transported to St. Joseph Medical Center in Bellingham for medical attention.
