Man wanted for murder in Huntington Beach arrested at U.S.-Mexico border

On Monday, June 10, police in Huntington Beach, California, announced the arrest of a man in connection with the murder of nurse Nicole Marquisee. 35-year-old Christopher Mendez of Diamond Bar was taken into custody as he attempted to reenter the United States from Mexico at the U.S.-Mexico border on Friday afternoon.
Nicole Marquisee's body was discovered on May 31 at a residence in the 1100 block of England Street in Huntington Beach. The Huntington Beach Police Department (HBPD) detectives, who made the arrest, had identified Mendez as a person of interest in the case. The arrest was facilitated with the assistance of the U.S. Customs and Border Protection, the U.S. Department of State Bureau of Diplomatic Security, and the U.S. Consulate General of Tijuana.
Legal Proceedings
Christopher Mendez is being held in custody on a $2 million bail and is scheduled for arraignment in court on June 11, 2024. The arrest brings a significant development in the case, offering a sense of closure to the community and the family of the victim.
