Mardi Gras and Carnival 2024: A celebration of spectacular costumes around the world

Mardi Gras and Carnival celebrations have taken over the streets, featuring the most spectacular costumes of 2024 in New Orleans and Brazil. In New Orleans, the festivities culminated with Mardi Gras parades, street parties, and a massive outdoor costume festival in the French Quarter. 

Spectators witnessed the Monogram Hunters Black Masking Indians parade on Mardi Gras Day, along with revelers in capes, wigs, spandex, and feathers dancing in front of St. Louis Cathedral at Jackson Square. The Zulu Social Aid and Pleasure Club and Rex, King of Carnival, also took center stage, adding to the vibrant display of African-inspired garb and ceremonial toasts.

Carnival in Brazil

Meanwhile, in Brazil, Carnival in Rio de Janeiro was a riot of color, music, and glitter, with blocos (street parties) captivating thousands of followers. The Samba Schools Parade within the Rio Carnival at the Sambodromo da Sapucai featured stunning costumes and thematic performances, with samba schools using the event as a platform for protest. From the Dawn Rooster parade in Sao Paulo to the cultural vibrancy of Carnival in Brazil, the world has once again celebrated these iconic events in grand fashion.
