Mass Shooting in Chicago Leaves 9-Year-Old Girl Dead, Several Others Injured

On the evening of April 13, 2024, a family gathering in the Back of the Yards neighborhood in Chicago turned into a scene of horror when gunfire broke out, resulting in the death of a child and injuries to at least 10 others, including several young children.

According to police reports, the shooting occurred around 9:18 p.m. when a black sedan pulled up to the event, and the occupants opened fire on the crowd without warning. Victims and Injuries

Among the victims, 9-year-old Ariana Molina tragically succumbed to her wounds after being shot in the head. Her father, Jose Molina, and his wife were also injured in the shooting. The couple sustained bullet wounds, with Jose Molina suffering wounds to his feet and his wife remaining hospitalized with a back injury.

The devastating impact of the shooting extended to other innocent children, including a 1-year-old and an 8-year-old, who were both in critical condition after being shot in the abdomen. Additionally, a 36-year-old man suffered two gunshot wounds to the back and was also in critical condition.
