On Saturday, a tragic mass shooting in Kentucky resulted in the deaths of four people, with three others sustaining injuries, according to the Florence Police Department.

Police Response and Suspect Pursuit

Police officers swiftly responded to a private residence at 2:51 a.m. local time after reports of gunshots. Upon arrival, they encountered victims both inside and outside the residence. The officers provided immediate first aid to the injured individuals.

Partygoers informed the officers that the suspect had fled the scene and provided a description of the vehicle used in the escape. Consequently, other officers in the area identified a vehicle matching the description provided by the partygoers. A pursuit ensued, and the suspect's attempt to evade law enforcement ended tragically when his vehicle crashed into a ditch. It is believed that the suspect sustained a self-inflicted gunshot wound during the pursuit and subsequently succumbed to his injuries at St. Elizabeth's Hospital.

The victims of this senseless act of violence have been identified as Shane Miller, 20, from Florence, Hayden Rybicki, 20, from Elsmere, Delaney Eary, 19, from Burlington, and Melissa Parrett, 44, from Florence. Furthermore, three individuals are currently receiving treatment at UC Health Hospital, where they are listed in critical but stable condition. Fortunately, it is anticipated that they will achieve a full recovery.

Suspect's Background and Motive

The suspect, identified as Chase Garvey, 21, from Florence, was known to the partygoers, and they promptly informed the authorities of his identity. Police Chief Jeff Mallery revealed that the suspect had a prior conviction for a sex crime, although there appears to be no direct link between this past offense and the mass shooting. Mallery emphasized that the suspect had no affiliation with the event and had merely arrived uninvited.
