On Sunday night, Milwaukee police officers responded to reports of gunfire and were involved in a shooting that critically wounded a 20-year-old man.
Incident Details
After receiving 911 calls about gunshots, officers arrived at the scene to find an armed suspect who fled from the scene and disregarded commands to stop. The 20-year-old man fled on foot and fired at the officers, prompting them to return fire around 11:15 p.m.
Suspect's Condition
The suspect was struck several times by the officers' gunfire and was subsequently taken to the hospital with life-threatening injuries. As of Monday, he remains in critical condition.
Investigation
Following the incident, three officers involved were placed on administrative duty, which is standard procedure after police shootings. The Wauwatosa Police Department will be leading the investigation into the shooting, as confirmed by the Milwaukee Police Department.
