The female bear was released on July 30 in the Blackrock drainage near Dubois, while the male bear was released the following day in Yellowstone National Park. This relocation is in accordance with a 2019 appeal ruling that mandated increased genetic diversity among grizzly bears in the Greater Yellowstone Ecosystem, emphasizing the importance of expanding the gene pool for the long-term survival and adaptability of the species.
