
Mother Accidentally Runs Over Son While Making Him Walk Home from School as Punishment

An Alabama mother has been charged with child abuse after unintentionally running over her 7-year-old son while punishing him by making him walk home from school. The incident occurred on February 9 in Boaz, Alabama. The mother, Sarai Rachel James, 27, was informed that her son had been sent to the principal's office for misbehaving earlier that day.
Incident Details
As a consequence, she stopped her car near the school and instructed her son to walk or run the remaining eight blocks home. While he was walking, she drove alongside him for a few blocks. However, as she slowed down, the boy attempted to grab the car door handle, resulting in him being pulled under the car and run over by a rear tire.
Legal Action
The police believe it was an accident, but the mother has been charged with aggravated child abuse and released on a $50,000 bond. The boy is currently in stable condition at the University of Alabama hospital.
