Mother of American Tourist Allegedly Sexually Assaulted in Bahamas Shares Harrowing Experience

Mother Shares Harrowing Experience
The mother of one of the women allegedly raped at a Bahamas resort shares her harrowing experience. Frankie King, the mother of Dongayla Dobson, recounted the distressing moments when her daughter texted her, "Call us now we've been drugged and raped." In an exclusive interview with Fox News Digital, King spoke about her daughter and her best friend Amber Shearer's terrifying ordeal during their vacation in the Bahamas.
Alleged Drugging and Assault
The two women, both Kentucky moms, were allegedly drugged with a laced cocktail and sexually assaulted during their trip to the Pirate's Cove resort on Grand Bahama Island. The pair had saved up for months for this "once-in-a-lifetime girl's trip," only for it to turn into a fight for survival after they were given drinks that they allege were laced with drugs. The women lost consciousness and were later found unconscious in a bathroom at the resort.
Aftermath and Response
Despite their traumatic experience, the survivors faced insensitive comments and threats on social media, prompting them to shut down their accounts. The mother is now supporting her daughter, her daughter's friend, and her son-in-law financially and emotionally as they navigate the aftermath of the assault. The resort has denied the women's allegations, and the Bahamian government has engaged in a war of words with the U.S. Department of State over the safety of the country, which heavily relies on tourism, accounting for 70% of its GDP.
Government's Position
The Bahamian government insists that the country remains a safe and welcoming destination despite the recent crime alert issued by the U.S. Embassy.
