Naked Intruder Assaults Austin Homeowner, Prompting Standoff with Police
NYC nurse attacked by repeat offender criticizes 'soft-on-crime' policies. Austin resident assaulted by naked intruder prompts police standoff. Robinson arrested.
Last week in Austin, a shocking incident occurred when a naked man broke into a residence and assaulted a female resident, leading to an extended standoff with the police.
Police Response
Upon receiving a burglary call from a residence in the 4400 block of Merle Drive, the Austin Police Department (APD) promptly responded. The home, owned by Michael Cargill, was occupied by an employee’s wife at the time of the intrusion. The victim, a stay-at-home mom, was left shaken but managed to fend off the attacker with the help of a courageous dog.
Arrest of the Suspect
The suspect, identified as Larry Robinson, was charged with burglary of habitation. Despite initial difficulty in making contact with Robinson, a SWAT team was eventually summoned to the scene. After several hours, Robinson exited the residence without incident and was promptly arrested and booked into the Travis County Jail. It is expected that additional charges will be brought against him in the near future.
Immediate Police Response Required
Despite the victim's brave efforts and the swift action of law enforcement, the incident underscores the need for effective and immediate police response to ensure the safety and security of residents.
Police Negligence
However, it is concerning to note that the victim had to make multiple calls to 911, as the first call taker reportedly hung up on her. Such negligence in emergency response can have grave consequences and must be thoroughly investigated to prevent similar occurrences in the future.
Community Impact
This alarming incident has undoubtedly left the community in shock and serves as a reminder of the importance of robust security measures and prompt law enforcement intervention to protect residents from such brazen criminal acts.
