Nevada Governor Lombardo Voices Support for Former President

The governor of Nevada, Joe Lombardo, has announced his endorsement for the former president, Donald Trump, in the upcoming Republican presidential primary elections. With this announcement, all four governors in the GOP early states have now aligned themselves with specific candidates. Lombardo expressed his intention to participate in the caucus for Trump and to cast a "none of the above" vote in the state-run primary. According to Lombardo, he believes that the economic conditions were more favorable and foreign affairs were more predictable and steady during Trump's presidency. He sees Trump as having the potential to lead the country out of the challenges associated with President Joe Biden. Nevada's electoral process involves both a party-run caucus and a state-run primary. The caucus, scheduled for February 8, will feature Trump and Florida Governor Ron DeSantis, while former South Carolina Governor Nikki Haley will participate in the primary on February 6. Lombardo, who was endorsed by Trump during his gubernatorial campaign in 2022, was the lone Republican to defeat an incumbent Democratic governor in the midterms. The governors of Iowa, New Hampshire, and South Carolina have also declared their endorsements for specific candidates in the upcoming elections.
