New poll reveals nearly half of voters believe Biden could be replaced as nominee

According to a recent Monmouth University poll, about half of American voters think it's possible that President Joe Biden could be replaced as the Democratic nominee due to his health, with a third believing the same for Donald Trump because of his legal issues. Questions about Biden's age and mental acuity have increased following the release of Special Counsel Robert Hur's report, which described Biden's memory as "poor."

The study also found that while 51 percent of voters expressed confidence in Trump's physical and mental abilities to lead the country, only 32 percent were able to say the same about Biden. Voter opinion on both candidates has shifted from a 2020 study, with a decrease in confidence in Biden's stamina and mental capacity. The Monmouth University Poll, conducted by telephone from Feb. 8 to 12 with 902 adults, found that overall support for the candidates has remained relatively stable since last fall, with approximately four in 10 voters indicating they would "definitely" or "probably" support Trump or Biden.

Significant findings

The study found that half of American voters think it's possible for Biden to be replaced as the Democratic nominee due to his health, and a third believe the same for Donald Trump because of his legal issues. This highlights concerns about the health and eligibility of the presidential candidates.

Shift in voter opinion

There has been a noticeable shift in voter opinion compared to a 2020 study, with decreasing confidence in Biden's stamina and mental capacity. This shift has implications for the upcoming elections and the candidates' ability to garner support.
