Newborn Baby Survives Mother's Death in Israeli Airstrike, Moved to New Hospital in Gaza
Newborn survives Gaza airstrike after mother's death; named after her. 22 killed, mostly children, in Israeli strikes on Rafah.
A newborn baby in the war-torn Palestinian enclave of Gaza has miraculously survived after her mother, Sabreen al Sakani, was tragically killed by an Israeli airstrike in the southern city of Rafah. The baby, named Sabreen Erooh by her aunt, was still in the womb when her mother and other family members fell victim to the strike.
Dr. Ahmad Fawzi, a doctor at a nearby hospital, revealed that an emergency cesarean was performed to save the baby's life. "We tried to rescue the patient," he stated. "We had to do an emergency cesarean to save the baby. Thanks to God, we managed to save the baby."
Fate of Innocent Lives
The airstrike not only claimed the life of the baby's mother but also her father, Shoukri, and her three-year-old sister, Malak. Furthermore, two Israeli strikes in Rafah resulted in the deaths of at least 22 people, predominantly children. The first strike took the lives of the baby's family members, while the second claimed the lives of 17 children and a woman.
Umm Kareem, a relative of the family, expressed anguish over the tragic incident, stating, "These children were sleeping. What did they do? What was their fault?"
Continued Medical Care for the Baby
Despite the devastation, there is hope as the newborn baby was successfully moved to the Emirati Hospital for continued care. The baby's uncle has pledged to care for her, providing a glimmer of positivity amid the distressing circumstances.
Israel's Ongoing Offensive
Israel's near-daily air raids on Gaza have forced over half of the enclave's 2.3 million residents to seek refuge in Rafah. The Israeli government has vowed to expand its ground offensive in the city to target Hamas combat units. Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu emphasized the intention to increase political and military pressure on Hamas, with the aim of securing the release of hostages and achieving victory.
"In the coming days, we will increase the political and military pressure on Hamas because this is the only way to bring back our hostages and achieve victory," Netanyahu stated. "We will land more and painful blows on Hamas soon."
