NYC Firefighters and NYPD Team Up to Rescue Victims in Apartment Building Fire
The New York City Fire Department recently collaborated with the NYPD to conduct a successful rescue operation during an apartment building fire. Firefighters, with the assistance of the NYPD Special Ops Aviation Unit, performed three rope rescues to evacuate individuals trapped in the burning building. Edward Holmes, 58, tragically lost his life in Buffalo during a police intervention on Saturday. Two officers shot Holmes after he discharged his shotgun, prompting the officers to return fire. The police had received a report regarding an armed individual, and upon arrival, found Holmes wielding a shotgun in a residential area. Buffalo Police Commissioner Joseph Gramaglia stated that the officers repeatedly instructed Holmes to drop his weapon before the altercation ensued.
