The NYPD has unveiled bodycam footage revealing the moment two transit officers and a straphanger raced to rescue a man who fell onto subway tracks and injured his head. The dramatic event occurred at the 181st Street subway station in Washington Heights on Sunday at approximately 7:20 a.m. The video depicts the transit officers and a straphanger swiftly moving to assist the man, with one officer providing instructions to another straphanger on the platform. The injured man was subsequently transported to Harlem Hospital for evaluation.

Reported track intrusions in 2021 totaled 1,267, with 68 fatalities. In 2022, there were 1,365 known subway-track incidents, resulting in 88 deaths. These incidents can occur due to various reasons, including trips, falls, suicide, and subway surfing.
