Pope Francis Accused of Repeating Anti-Gay Slur in Meeting with Priests
Pope Francis allegedly used an anti-gay slur during a meeting in Rome, repeating the offensive term he was accused of using previously. The Vatican did not address the reports.
Pope Francis faced criticism once again after reportedly using an anti-gay slur during a meeting with priests in Rome. This comes just two weeks after he was accused of using the same offensive term. The Vatican, however, has not directly addressed the recent reports, only stating that the pontiff had cautioned about admitting gay men into Roman Catholic seminaries.
Reports Unaddressed by Vatican
Despite prominent Italian news agencies, ANSA and Adnkronos, reporting the use of the offensive term “frociaggine” by the pope, the Vatican has not officially commented on the matter. The reports, based on information from anonymous sources present at the meeting, have not been independently verified by The New York Times.
This is not the first time the pope has been accused of using the same term. Last month, during a private meeting with Italian bishops, similar accusations arose. However, the Vatican declined to comment on these allegations as well.
The repetition of such controversial language by Pope Francis has sparked outrage and rekindled debates about the Church's stance on LGBTQ+ issues. The Vatican's response to these allegations is keenly awaited by the public and the global Catholic community.
