After many years of dominance, Singapore Airlines has been dethroned as the best airline in the world by Qatar Airways, according to the air transport rating firm Skytrax. This marks the eighth time since 2011 that Qatar Airways has claimed the top spot, surpassing its competitors with its exceptional service and offerings.

Asian Airlines Dominate the Top 10

Notably, Asian airlines have demonstrated their prowess in the aviation industry, with Singapore Airlines now securing the second position in the ranking, followed closely by Emirates in third place, which has risen by one spot compared to the previous year. Meanwhile, U.S. airlines were notably absent from the leading ranks, with Delta Air Lines being the highest-ranked U.S. airline, positioned at 21st place.

The rankings are a result of a comprehensive customer survey conducted by Skytrax, with participants hailing from over 100 countries in the 2023-2024 edition. Alongside the top airlines ranking, Skytrax presented a series of other awards, including regional breakdowns and recognitions for various types of flights. Qatar Airways, the overall winner, also secured the titles of the world's best business class and the top airline in the Middle East, while Singapore Airlines claimed the titles for the world's best cabin crew and best first class, in addition to being named the best airline in Asia.

For travelers seeking budget-friendly options, Malaysia's AirAsia was acclaimed as the best low-cost airline, with Singapore's Scoot earning the title of the best low-cost airline for long-haul flights, providing affordable and quality travel experiences.

Regional Rankings

The North America regional top 10 was led by Delta Air Lines, followed by Air Canada, United Airlines, Porter Airlines, and Air Transat. Notably, Canadian airlines dominated the top ranks, with major U.S. carriers positioned lower in the ranking.
