President Emmanuel Macron, following his decision to call for snap elections, has vehemently condemned the “scourge of antisemitism” within French schools. Similarly, Prime Minister Gabriel Attal has urged politicians to unequivocally denounce hatred towards Jews, calling for the refusal to trivialize such sentiments.

Alarming Statistics

According to government data, there have been over 360 antisemitic episodes in France in the first quarter of this year, showcasing a staggering 300% increase from the same period last year. This equates to an average of four incidents daily.

The most recent alarming incident involved three boys, aged 12 and 13, who reportedly dragged the young girl into an abandoned building. Subsequently, the girl was subjected to repeated acts of rape and verbal abuse.

The three boys are currently under investigation for charges including rape, death threats, and aggravated insults based on the victim's religion. Notably, two of the accused have been remanded in pretrial detention, as confirmed by a statement from the prosecutor's office.
