Rep. Frost Visits 'Alligator Alcatraz,' Condemns Immigrant Detention Conditions

Each tent housed six cages, accommodating 32 people per cage, with three shared toilet-sink units for each unit. Frost compared this to his previous experience in jail cells, noting that typical occupancy ranged from two to four individuals per unit, not the overcrowded conditions he observed.

He described the temperature inside the tents as being in the mid-80s, creating an uncomfortable and potentially hazardous environment. The representative recounted the emotional toll of witnessing Latino, Black, and brown men confined within these cages, chanting "Libertad!" and pleading with him to contact their families.
