Rep. Mike Kelly and Family Witness Attempted Assassination of Donald Trump in Butler, PA
Rep. Mike Kelly, his family, and grandkids witnessed an assassination attempt on Trump, leaving them and a child in shock and confusion.
Representative Mike Kelly, a Republican from Pennsylvania, was attending an event in Butler, PA, with his family, including three of his grandchildren, when a shocking incident occurred. An alleged assassin attempted to shoot former President Donald J. Trump, narrowly missing him and causing chaos in the crowd.
The gunfire resulted in two people sustaining critical injuries, while Corey Comperatore, a firefighter who died while attempting to shield his family, lost his life in the tragic event. The distressing scene left a lasting impact on the witnesses, especially Kelly's 9-year-old grandson, Charles.
Lasting Impact
After the horrific ordeal, Charles asked his grandfather, “Grandpa, why would somebody want to shoot President Trump?” Kelly struggled to provide an answer, expressing his disbelief at the senseless violence. “He says, ‘This is just crazy.’ And I’m thinking, here’s a 9-year-old boy who has experienced this all. This is something he should not have had to witness, and it’s something he’s going to carry with him,” Kelly reminisces.
