Rescued Israeli Hostage Endured Psychological Warfare in Gaza
Andrey Kozlov, held captive in Gaza, thought the world had abandoned him. Rescued after 8 months, he and others were malnourished and mistreated.
In a dramatic turn of events, Israeli security forces successfully rescued Andrey Kozlov from his captors in the Gaza Strip. After enduring eight months of captivity, Kozlov was finally liberated from his ordeal.
A Message of Abandonment
During his captivity, Kozlov's captors repeatedly conveyed a distressing message to him – that the world had abandoned him. They went as far as informing him that his family had moved on, with his mother supposedly vacationing in Greece, oblivious and indifferent to his plight.
Uncertain Liberation
When Israeli security forces stormed the apartment where Kozlov was held, his initial reaction was one of uncertainty. He was unsure whether they had come to rescue him or to bring about his demise, as per his parents' account during an interview.
Physical Condition of Rescued Hostages
Following their rescue, medical tests revealed that Kozlov and the three other hostages were all suffering from malnourishment. Dr. Itai Pessach, the head of the medical team at Sheba Medical Center, reported that the rescued hostages had also been subjected to varying degrees of mistreatment during their captivity.
