Rex Heuermann's Attorney Addresses New Murder Charge in Gilgo Beach Serial Killings Case
The attorney for suspected serial killer Rex Heuermann addressed new murder charges, while police searched his home and a nearby forest.

Massapequa Park, N.Y. - Long Island authorities have revisited the residence of suspected serial killer Rex Heuermann, as confirmed by Asa Ellerup's lawyer, Bob Macedonio. His wife, who filed for divorce after his arrest last summer, and their adult children were not present at the time of the police activity.
The investigators are believed to have acquired a new search warrant for the home, where they previously conducted a nearly two-week-long search last year.
Connection to Gilgo Beach Murders
The most recent search follows a previous investigation in Manorville, approximately 40 miles away, where police K-9s were observed digging in the forest. This investigation is suspected to be linked to the Gilgo Beach murders.
Rex A. Heuermann is accused of the murders of four women, whose remains were discovered in 2010 along Ocean Parkway. The victims include Melissa Barthelemy, 24; Megan Waterman, 22; Amber Costello, 27; and Maureen Brainard-Barnes, 25, known collectively as the "Gilgo Four." In addition to these four victims, Jessica Taylor and Valerie Mack were also found dismembered and discarded in separate locations.
Legal Proceedings
Heuermann faces multiple charges of murder and has pleaded not guilty. He is currently in custody without bail. He was born and raised in Massapequa Park, New York, and had purchased his childhood home from his mother in the 1990s, where he resided with his family.
These latest developments in the case of the suspected serial killer are significant as authorities continue their investigation.
