Tragic Death at US-Mexico Border

On March 21, a 24-year-old Guatemalan woman tragically lost her life after a 30-foot fall from a border fence at the Otay Mesa Port of Entry in San Diego, California.

Desperate Attempt

The woman was attempting to climb a secondary fence when she became stuck and began yelling for help. U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) reported that Border Patrol agents tried to discourage her from climbing the fence but were unsuccessful in their attempts.

Upon the arrival of the San Diego Fire-Rescue Department, they encountered difficulties in reaching the woman due to the narrow turn at the scene. Despite efforts to deliver a ladder, the woman tragically fell from the fence, sustaining severe head trauma and profuse bleeding.
