Rochester Region Hits by Second Tornado, Minor Damages Reported

A second tornado was reported in Rochester and Genesee County on Monday afternoon, by the National Weather Service in Buffalo. The twister in Pavilion, Genesee County, was classified as an EF-0 on the Enhanced Fujita scale, with peak wind speeds of 85 mph. It caused damage to numerous trees, with no reported damage to buildings.

Confirmation of Tornado in Rochester NY

The National Weather Service in Buffalo confirmed that the tornado touched down at 3:50 p.m. and was on the ground for two minutes, traveling a distance of three-quarters of a mile. The tornado, which had a path width of 75 yards, resulted in the snapping and uprooting of multiple trees.

A separate tornado, also categorized as an EF-0, hit Canandaigua in Ontario County the same day. This tornado, with peak wind speeds of 75 mph, caused damage to trees along the northern shore of Canandaigua Lake, as well as to properties in the vicinity. 

Severe Weather Incidents in New York

The occurrence of two tornadoes in close succession has raised concerns about the impact of severe weather in the region. Despite the significant damage caused to trees and properties, there were no reports of injuries or fatalities in connection with either tornado.
