Sam Haskell Charged with Murdering Wife and In-Laws, Autopsy Suggests Gruesome Details
Sam Haskell is charged with murdering Mei Li and her parents, who were found dismembered. A trial will determine his fate.
After a shocking accusation, gruesome details about the death of Mei Li Haskell and her parents have been unveiled. The Los Angeles Medical Examiner released an autopsy that suggests Mei Li may have still been alive when she was decapitated.
Accusation and Charges
Mei Li's husband, Sam Haskell, stands accused of the murder of his 37-year-old wife and her parents, Gaoshan Li, 72, and Yanxiang Wang, 64. The incident took place last November in Tarzana, Calif. Sam Haskell has been charged with these heinous crimes.
Disturbing Discovery
On November 7, Sam allegedly hired day laborers to dispose of large bags. The laborers found human body parts in the bags, which led to a chilling discovery. Subsequently, Sam was seen on surveillance video disposing of another bag in a nearby dumpster. A woman's torso, identified as Mei Li's, was found by a person going through those bags, prompting a police investigation.
Grim Autopsy Findings
The autopsy revealed that Mei Li's head, arms and legs were absent from her torso. The report indicated a "sharp force injury at the neck," and suggested that "a sharp powered tool was likely used" in the amputations. It also mentioned the possibility that Mei Li was still alive when she was decapitated.
Cause of Death
The autopsy indicated that the most likely mechanisms of death were blunt force, gunshot, sharp force trauma to the head/neck, or asphyxia. The report concluded that due to the deliberate concealment of the body by dismemberment and disposal, the cause of death is homicidal violence.
Legal Proceedings and Family Background
Sam Haskell pleaded not guilty to the murders on January 12, 2024. If convicted, he faces the prospect of life in prison without the possibility of parole. It's worth noting that Sam is the son of Hollywood executive Sam Haskell III. The elder Haskell, known for producing TV specials for Dolly Parton, stepped down as CEO of the Miss America Organization in 2017 after sparking controversy with sexist emails.
