Smiling Pit Bull Mix Bitsy Seeks Loving Forever Home at Arlington Animal Services
Bitsy, a pit bull mix, arrived as a stray at City of Arlington, Texas Animal Services, and despite her popularity, she's still available for adoption.
It was on April 22nd when Bitsy, the pit bull mix, arrived at the City of Arlington, Texas Animal Services as a stray. Her infectious smile and charming demeanor caught the attention of many, and she was put up for adoption on April 25th. Despite her popularity, she is still awaiting her forever home filled with love and attention.
Adventures of a Stray Dog
Bitsy's arrival at the City of Arlington, Texas Animal Services was the result of a series of events. After having run loose as a stray, multiple concerned citizens made calls about her. Officer Alex Pollard eventually found her after she had completed what seemed like a fun run around the neighborhood. Despite her long day, she was found laying on her back, feet up in the air, exuding happiness and contentment. Bitsy's lively and enthusiastic nature made her stand out among the other dogs at the shelter.
A Bright and Energetic Personality
Described as happy, rambunctious, and very attached to people, Bitsy made an immediate impression at the shelter. Her unique way of seeking attention, through dinosaur noises and full-body wags, made her impossible to ignore. Her estimated age of 3 or 4 years only adds to her appeal, along with her constant smile that lights up the room.
Unique Adoption Opportunity
After completing a 72-hour stray hold period without an owner coming forward, Bitsy was made available for adoption on April 25th. Due to behavior observations that indicated possible hearing impairment, she was classified as a VIP Adoptable Pet, reducing her adoption fee and featuring her prominently in the hopes of finding her a home quickly.
Window Debut at the Shelter
On April 30th, Bitsy was moved to a special kennel at the front of the shelter, known as the "adoption mall", where she could be showcased to potential adopters. Her new vantage point by the window allowed her to greet shelter staff and visitors with her heartwarming smile. A photo of her eagerly looking out the window was shared on Facebook, but despite garnering over 2,400 shares, no adoption interest has been generated yet.
Waiting for a Loving Home
The shelter emphasizes that Bitsy requires a responsible pet owner who is willing to provide love, time, and attention. Her potential hearing impairment also needs to be taken into account, requiring someone who is willing to work with her. Despite the lack of adoption interest so far, the City of Arlington, Texas Animal Services remains optimistic that the perfect family will come forward for Bitsy.
Spreading Awareness for Shelter Dogs
The shelter hopes that Bitsy's story will raise awareness about the many homeless shelter dogs waiting for their forever homes. They encourage people to consider opening their hearts and homes to a shelter dog in need.
