Teen Charged in Murder of Parents and Three Siblings, Surviving Sibling Found to Have Escaped

A 15-year-old has been charged with the murders of his parents and three siblings and in the attempted murder of another sibling who survived Monday’s attack at the family’s Washington state home. The teen was charged with five counts of aggravated murder in the first degree and one count of attempted murder in the first degree, according to the King County Prosecuting Attorney's Office.

Six criminal counts have been filed with a designation for acts of domestic violence, according to the prosecuting attorney's office. Additionally, the attempted murder count has a firearms enhancement that allows for a greater sentence if convicted.

Survivor’s Escape

During the attack, one child survived and was hospitalized. The 11-year-old girl managed to escape by playing dead, crawling out of a fire window, and seeking help from a neighbor.

Allegations Against the Teen

According to a detective's report, the 11-year-old survivor claimed that her 15-year-old brother shot her and their family with a Glock handgun belonging to their father and further detailed the horrific incident.

The attorneys representing the teen emphasized the presumption of innocence and described him as a normal, law-abiding boy with interests in mountain biking and fishing.
