A shocking video captured by a motorist in India shows two men fleeing for their lives from an angry elephant, resulting in a dangerous encounter. The footage, shared on social media, serves as a reminder of the importance of staying inside vehicles when large animals are present.

According to the Wayanadgram Instagram account, the video was filmed by a man named Sawad as he and his family were traveling to the resort city of Ooty. The video shows the men desperately trying to outrun the elephant, while another person in a red car stayed close by. The encounter was also harrowing for those in Sawad’s vehicle, as a woman can be heard screaming in apparent fear for the men's lives. When one of the men fell alongside the road, the elephant slapped him with its trunk and kicked him before abandoning the chase.

It remains unclear why the elephant charged or whether the man was seriously injured. The video was shared by Susanta Nanda of the Indian Forest Service, who commented, "Just showing who the boss is."
