
Tesla Leaves Small Business High and Dry After Canceling Large Pie Order, Claims Owner

Voahangy Rasetarinera, the owner of The Giving Pies in San Jose, California, recently accused Tesla of leaving her small business in a difficult situation by reportedly canceling a large pie order at the last minute. The encounter, which was initially seen as a significant opportunity, turned into a challenging experience for Rasetarinera and her business.
According to reports from NBC affiliate KNTV and CW affiliate KRON-TV, Rasetarinera was approached by a Tesla representative on Valentine's Day to discuss ordering thousands of mini pies from her business. After providing a quote and receiving approval, Rasetarinera anticipated a smooth transaction with the electric car company.
Tesla did not pay the order
However, complications arose when the payment from Tesla failed to materialize on time, leaving Rasetarinera concerned about the situation. Despite this setback, she remained hopeful for a resolution.
Rasetarinera claimed that on February 19, she was asked by the Tesla representative to double the initial pie order. Despite the late hour and short notice, she consulted with her staff and agreed to manage the expanded order, demonstrating her willingness to accommodate the request.
The order, which was intended for a Black History Month event, was valued at $16,000. To fulfill Tesla's order, The Giving Pies had to decline other Black History Month catering jobs, purchase additional supplies, and prepare for an intensified production schedule.
Despite The Giving Pies' efforts to meet Tesla's requirements, Rasetarinera received a text message informing her that Tesla no longer required the order, leaving her and her business in a difficult position.
Expressing her disappointment and the impact on her business, Rasetarinera reached out to the Tesla representative, highlighting the disruption to her operations, strain on her staff, and the damage to her trust in doing business with larger corporations.
Despite the setbacks faced by her business, Rasetarinera remains determined to pursue her passion and serve her community with integrity and pride. She emphasized the strength and resilience of small businesses in the face of challenges.
Reportedly, Tesla has offered to "make it right," but Rasetarinera is awaiting confirmation regarding the proposed make-up events. Both Rasetarinera and Tesla have been in touch, and while Tesla has acknowledged communication with the business owner, neither party has immediately responded to requests for comment from media outlets.
