Texas Man Sentenced to Over 3 Years for Brutally Kicking Cat, Posting Incident Online

A Texas resident was sentenced to over three years in federal prison for animal abuse after kicking a cat "as if kicking a football field goal," an act recorded and shared on social media. Donaldvan Williams, 30, received a three-year and four-month prison term, as announced by the U.S. Attorney's Office for the Eastern District of Texas.

On October 15, 2021, Williams' animal cruelty incident took place in the parking lot of a Beaumont apartment complex. The cat, allegedly foaming at the mouth and convulsing, was subjected to a kick that propelled it through the air approximately 15 to 20 feet. The act was documented and shared on social media, leading to legal repercussions for both perpetrators.

Plea Deal and Charges

In October, Williams pleaded guilty to animal crushing and aiding and abetting in connection with the October incident. Court records reveal that another individual, Decorius Mire, recorded the act and encouraged Williams, subsequently sharing the video online. Mire was sentenced to 18 months in prison last year.

The court records indicate that the animal's torment extended beyond the initial kicking incident. An unidentified individual reportedly set the cat on fire after pouring an accelerant on it, with the act also recorded on video. However, the charges against Williams only involved the initial kick, and it remains unclear whether the cat survived the ordeal.

The U.S. Attorney's Office emphasized the severity of the crime, stating that Williams not only inflicted harm on the cat but did so while lacking any intent to seek help for the animal.
