
Texas Man Stabs Gymgoer Over Workout Equipment Dispute at LA Fitness

A recent altercation at an LA Fitness gym in Austin, Texas, resulted in a stabbing and the subsequent arrest of a 69-year-old man. The incident allegedly took place due to a dispute over the use of a workout machine.

According to the police report, the accused, John David Makinson, allegedly stabbed another gym-goer in the buttocks at the LA Fitness in Austin, Texas. The altercation was said to have stemmed from a dispute over a leg press machine.
The victim reported that Makinson initially confronted him while he was using the leg press machine, insisting that he use a different piece of equipment. The situation escalated when Makinson reportedly hurled obscenities at the victim upon encountering him in the men's locker room. Shortly after, the victim felt a sharp pain and discovered that Makinson had allegedly stabbed him in the left buttock with a folding knife, resulting in a 3- to 4-inch stab wound.
Police further stated that Makinson pursued the victim into the bathroom, attempting to stab him multiple times before being intervened by a bystander who managed to defuse the situation.
John David Makinson was subsequently arrested for aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. It was revealed that he had a previous arrest in 2021 for aggravated assault.
The victim sustained a severe stab wound, requiring a blood transfusion due to the depth of the injury. Makinson is currently held in the Travis County Jail on a $50,000 bond.
The investigation into the matter is ongoing, and authorities are working to ensure justice is served in this disturbing incident.
