A Texas mother, Lakesha Woods Williams, is currently facing a serious legal situation after allegedly leaving her two young children, aged 6 and 8, alone in her Houston apartment for nearly a week while she went on a vacation.
Legal Charges
Williams, 29, has been charged with child abandonment due to leaving her children unattended with the intent to return. As a result, she was arrested and booked into jail. She is currently being held on a $25,000 bond.
Discovery and Response
Police were alerted to the situation by a concerned neighbor. Upon entering the apartment, officers found the living conditions to be in disarray, with trash and leftover food scattered around and a strong smell of urine. The children were found alone and were immediately attended to by paramedics and Child Protective Services (CPS) to ensure their health and safety.
According to police reports, the children were discovered on April 9th, and it was revealed that Williams had left for her cruise on April 4th, returning home six days later on April 10th.
Legal Proceedings
Lakesha Woods Williams appeared in court where she received a $25,000 bond, a decision that was upheld by a judge on the following Monday.
