In September 1989, a shocking discovery was made at the Good ‘n Loud Music store in Madison, Wis. The owners found a human skull peeking through a pipe connecting the boiler to the chimney. They later uncovered a complete skeleton wearing a faded paisley dress and pointed heels. For many years, the unidentified bones remained in a cabinet at the Dane County Medical Examiner’s Office.
Estimation and Autopsy
An investigation estimated that the remains had been in the chimney for a period ranging from two months to two years. Following an autopsy, it was determined that the skeleton belonged to a thin man, 5 feet 7 inches tall, aged between 18 and 35 years old.

For decades, the unidentified man was referred to as Dane County Doe, or Chimney Doe. His story was featured in numerous television programs that delved into cold cases and unsolved mysteries, complete with a sculpted reconstruction of his face.
