Tim Walz will run as Kamala Harris' running mate for president on the third night of the Democratic National Convention

This Wednesday, August 21, the third night of the Democratic National Convention began in Chicago, where Minnesota Governor, Tim Walz, is expected to introduce himself as the Democratic Party's vice presidential candidate, becoming Kamala Harris' running mate, being his biggest challenge of his political career.
On the third night, the Convention will focus on the theme “Fight for our Freedoms,” which refers to paying attention to the January 6 insurrection and Donald Trump's attempt to overturn the 2020 presidential election.

Parents of U.S.-Israeli hostage take convention stage

Jon Polin and Rachel Goldberg - Polin took the stage as the parents of Hersh Goldberg - Polin, who was kidnapped on October 7 by Hamas during the Nova music festival, to share with everyone at the Democratic National Convention in Chicago the “pain and misery” they have experienced because of their missing son. This young man is one of the 109 most well-known Israeli hostages held in Gaza, for which they requested a cease-fire between Israel and Hamas.

“Anyone who is a parent, or who has had a parent, can try to imagine the pain and misery that Jon and I and all the families of the hostages are enduring,” said Goldberg-Polin.

Oprah Winfrey endorses Kamala Harris

The surprise of the night was Oprah Winfrey's speech during the third day of the Convention, where she recalled that since Barack Obama in 2008 she has supported the party. 

“Freedom is not free. America is an ongoing project. It requires commitment. It requires being open to the hard work and the core work of democracy.”

Did Donald Trump betray the country?

During the third night of the convention, former Republican Lieutenant Governor Geoff Duncan of Georgia stated that although he does not agree with all of Kamala Harris' ideologies, he prefers to vote for her, because he attended the convention as a citizen who cares about the future of the country. According to Dun, the Republican Party is a “cult” under Trump, as “it is not civil or assertive.”

While Aquilino Gonell, a retired Capitol Police officer remembered his colleagues who died during the January 6 riots. During his speech he stated that former President Donald Trump betrayed them by summoning attackers and siding with them, so he urged all americans to elect Kamala Harris as their president.

Bill Clinton shows full support for Kamala Harris

After news broke that former President Bill Clinton destroyed his speech after two nights at the Democratic National Convention, Clinton said it's a “clear choice” between Kamala Harris and Donald Trump in November.

“In 2024, it looks to me like we have pretty clear choices, Kamala Harris, because of the people and because of the other guy, who has proven even more than the first time it's about me, me and me.”

He also asserted that President Biden's decision to step aside from the presidential election race will enhance his legacy as the current president of the United States.

Nancy Pelosi says Harris will take America to new heights

Former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi took the stage at the Democratic National Convention to laud Biden-Harris' accomplishments, especially on job creation and climate legislation. That's why, she said, Harris is “astute and strategic in winning tough elections,” because she is ready to give service to the community.
