Three McLane High students were arrested after a shooting near the school, involving a 16-year-old shooter and two 15-year-old suspects.

In a shocking turn of events, three students from McLane High School were taken into custody this week following a reported shooting incident in close proximity to the school premises. The swift arrests ensued after law enforcement apprehended a 16-year-old individual believed to be the gunman, in a neighboring area. The troubling series of events unfolded at approximately 3:40 p.m. on Wednesday, close to an Auto Zone establishment located at the intersection of Clinton and Cedar avenues.
The Incident Unfolds
Upon arrival at the scene, deputies found no evident victims of the alleged gunfire. However, they discovered that prior to the discharge of firearms, there had been a disturbance involving a sizeable group of students affiliated with McLane High School. Reports indicate that several gunshots struck a vehicle and a nearby restaurant, prompting a swift response from law enforcement.
Subsequent to the initial arrest, detectives from the Multi-Agency Gang Enforcement Consortium pursued and apprehended two additional suspects, both 15-year-old students. One of the arrested individuals allegedly brandished a firearm in a confrontational manner, while the other is accused of aiding the gunmen in the disposal of their weapons. As of now, the firearms used in the incident remain unaccounted for.
Collaborative Investigation Efforts
Deputies reported that witness accounts proved instrumental in providing descriptions of the individuals involved, including the alleged gunman. Furthermore, video surveillance footage capturing the incident further aided in the investigation. This collaborative effort involved multiple agencies, including MAGEC, Fresno Police Department, a School Resource Officer (SRO), and the Violent Criminal Apprehension Team.
The apprehended teens were subsequently booked into juvenile detention, where they are expected to face charges related to the use of firearms.
